Clearly not the same thing. In English, "I found a body in the canal" cannot be accurately translated as "I found a biology in the canal".

Funny how "body" became "biology", by the way. You do like to move the goalposts, don't you?
August 28, 2019 at 17:09
What's there to forgive? I thought words were powerless? You believe in sorcery?

Nixon 2.0.
August 28, 2019 at 16:56
Maybe you should look up the difference between a lie and something said with tongue in cheek. Your idol has a proclivity for both.
August 28, 2019 at 16:54
That thing he said about covfefe. The rest of it was lies. Yes. Hitler was a warlock, and Churchill was a wizard. Churchill was famed for his black Ho...

August 28, 2019 at 16:29
And yet, "words have no power", right? Maybe you should focus on polices instead of words, as you've pressed others to do.
August 28, 2019 at 16:19
So we agree that slick talkers have made significant achievements.

Helped the Allies win the Second World War? (Winston Churchill).

I don't know. @"Hanover", what do you think? :smirk:

I said "that sort of thing". I was charitably assuming that your example wasn't specific to the point of absurdity.

I've never denied any such correlation, and you never asked me about one. You did ask me a question which was poorly framed, like if I were to ask you...

Answered earlier on. A cost-benefit analysis.
August 27, 2019 at 20:29
Oh sure, sure. It's the status quo that's ridiculous, and not your fringe view.
August 27, 2019 at 20:28
That makes no sense. It's like asking, if October is not your foot, and is not itself a foot, then what does it taste like? Do you have a question whi...

Sigh. Something like: hate speech can be a causal factor leading to acts of violence.
August 27, 2019 at 19:21
That's not proof at all. That's open to interpretation. I certainly do not mean that I am my body when I point to myself. I can point at myself. In co...

I'm not, but the qualified version is more of a mouthful.

No, the topic is pertinent, but the question was stupid. It could be put more intelligently.
August 27, 2019 at 19:05
I don't agree with that at all. That sounds absurd to me. You're not your body, you're yourself. You have a body.

Yes.
August 27, 2019 at 18:52
I wouldn't make a blanket statement like that.

It's not a matter of "letting". Either I'm swayed or I'm not. That's out of my hands. It's not like I can decide what I do or don't find convincing.

Why do you care so much about "showing"? It's the most plausible explanation.
