What is this error in debating logic called

I was in a debate with somebody and I made arguments about a certain topic and then at the end I said a sentence and then based upon that one sentence, which really wasn't relevant to what I said before, he said that since I said that one sentence it destroys everything I said. I think this is a red herring but perhaps it is something more specific than that.

Non-sequitur? Red herring works fine too through.

You're right, I forgot about that one. Definitely does work better. There are so many blunders in debate I lose track. Is there a good list online?

Thanks

Google formal debate fallacies. There's many. Opt for an academic sourced list.

Reply to 951Michael Maybe you did destroy your argument by contradicting yourself. Or maybe not

Take it out of the argument if it's not relevant.

I'd really have to know what the argument was and what the sentence was.
