Today (11/2/15/ 4:00 pm CST) THE PHILOSOPHY FORUM appeared on page 10 of a Google search results. It should be noted that some sites are inactive, some sites are not on-line forums but actual live-body meetings (so primitive), some are academic class related, and some are dead.

Reply to Bitter Crank Interesting stuff. I reckon we're doing pretty well for a fortnight on the road. Cheers for the update.

THE PHILOSOPHY FORUM appeared on page 10 of a Google search results.

For what? I.e., for what search term? That's what matters. After all, we're at the very top of the search results for "thephilosophyforum.com" (with the quotes).

But yes, it's good to see us in the results: 17 Google results pages of thephilosophyforum.com URLs indexed as of today by my reckoning.
Baden November 03, 2015 at 12:11 #2134
Reply to jamalrob I presumed it was "philosophy" + "forum" but I can't check because Google is blocked and my vpn is playing up.
ArguingWAristotleTiff November 03, 2015 at 12:12 #2135
The more content we can put up on Facebook, the more traction we will get as Facebook is a feeder pond for Google to fish in. Just a thought!
S November 03, 2015 at 20:55 #2167
We've moved up to page 8 from page 11 (where we were several days ago) for "the" + "philosophy" + "forum". We should be the first result. We're underneath narutoforums.

Would it help if we all dedicated an hour to search and visit this site? Seems to me by the amount of English football news on my yahoo page and search results that sites that are most visited from the search engine get higher on the list faster. And no I don't like English football, that's the wife's hobby.

No.1 in China. (Y)
Baden November 12, 2015 at 13:05 #3020
(Probably because it automatically puts English phrases in quotes or some boring reason like that but let's not spoil the fun...)
Jamal November 12, 2015 at 13:23 #3021
Looks like it's a Bing thing. The same search here, without quotes, returns TPF in second place behind you know who. Pretty cool.
Streetlight November 12, 2015 at 15:12 #3028
Content, content, content. Just fill this motherfucker up with content.
Baden December 20, 2015 at 14:46 #5764
"Philosophy Forum" - Google - Page....1! (Ninth on page). Fantastic achievement. Thanks to all! (Y)

(Seems to go up and down on each search, so this may not be immediately replicable. But we're getting there :) ).

Page 4, via Dutch Google when searching for "philosophy forum" (without quotes).

We're 7th, now. 4th if "philosophy forum" is quoted.
Hanover April 07, 2016 at 14:12 #10647
If you type in "thephilosophyforum.com" directly into the url, it'll come straight up #1. The trick is in getting people to do that.

You're welcome.
S April 07, 2016 at 19:23 #10663
Reply to Michael What did you type in to get us at 7th place? In my search results, "philosophy forum" without quotes is 6th, and with quotes is 4th. I don't think it's changed in that space of time. Did you miscount?
Michael April 07, 2016 at 19:45 #10665
Reply to Sapientia Ah, I was using google.com. It's 6th on google.co.uk.

Reply to Michael Oh no! We're now 7th. :o
Michael June 16, 2016 at 11:02 #13031
On .co.uk we're 3rd for "philosophy forum" and 4th for philosophy forum.

On .com we're 5th and 6th.

Ever so closer.

It's obvious that our rise is due to the increase in quality that I bring to the table. I would only ask that others put forth the effort that I have.

I'd also point out that we all realize that the UK web is a rural backwater, but I do believe our success there might be an indication that we will eventually succeed in the meaningful US market. Like most, I consider the UK a beta version of the US.

I consider the US to be a UK spinoff. You're the Joey to our Friends.

Make of that what you will.

Reply to Michael The UK doesn't seem to know whether they are leaving or staying. Confused old coots.

The US might end up with Trump as president.

Game, set, match.

Yes, but Break Dancing 2 Electric Bugaloo was far superior to the original. Make of that what you will.

Reply to Michael If all the people in the US who don't like Trump and Clinton were to vote for a third party on the ballot as a protest, we might end up with a Socialist Worker Party president -- wouldn't that be a shocker -- especially for the SWP.
Baden August 02, 2016 at 03:41 #14920
Now 3rd for philosophy forum on my local Google (.co.th, with and without quotes).
bert1 August 02, 2016 at 06:34 #14927
#5 in mine
Jamal August 02, 2016 at 06:39 #14928
4th on google.com and 3rd on google.fr.
Mayor of Simpleton August 03, 2016 at 20:24 #15091
Funny thing is it comes up first if you write in "the philosophy forum".

Google.at it comes up 3rd with "philosophy forum".

Got a 2nd for the first time with philosophy forum (no quotes) on local Google, which, as old PF is presently inoperative, is pretty much as good as first.
Jamal April 19, 2017 at 14:48 #66818
First place!

(for "philosophy forum", with or without quotes, on .com, .co.uk, and .es)
Michael April 19, 2017 at 15:04 #66822
Reply to jamalrob We win!

Nice. I've been getting that on Google HK for a while but not on the others. It will probably go up and down. But in any case I think few would deny us a pat on our own backs for this after just 18 months or so up and running. Well done us (and I include everyone in that) (Y).
Hanover April 19, 2017 at 17:04 #66832
Reply to Michael Typically I like to remain behind the scenes and allow others to have the limelight, but my efforts were so obvious and heroic in this instance that I'd lose credibility if I didn't fully accept credit for this.
