I am the solipsist, ask me a question if you want

Koen August 10, 2020 at 21:08 3650 views 14 comments
Hi, i am here, finally !
There are many post about solipsisme or about the solipsist, and no one has ever met one!
So i'm here , if you are interested, ask me a question...
If you would like to write a book, essay or an article, i will help you !
Actually i would really like that! I'm not a good writer, well i could be i'm not gonna waste my time trying because you would only become better, there would only be more writers in the world. A solipsist is always average in his reality. He is the sum off all, and all is a little piece, of the solipsist, that lives as a specialist of that piece.

Try to enjoy life, it makes mine easier!
If you worry, you give me a headache!

The solipsist, the one

But since only my mind can be known, aren't you really just me?

Hi Koen!

What do you think about sleep? Don't you always seem to wake up in the same place where you fell asleep the night before? Even after you traveled to so many other places in your dreams, do you not find it strange that your mind returns to the same old bed each morning? Do you ever get suspicious that this consistency is evidence of an external world?

Does a morning of studying a gray seascape make the afternoon more beautiful?

Sorry about your headache! It must be unbearable.

Aside from the obvious questions, my only question is...why is it that if I enjoy my life, yours is made easier? From your perspective, as a solipsist?
Koen August 11, 2020 at 16:09 #442042
@Noble Dust".why is it that if I enjoy my life, yours is made easier?"

Well, if you enjoy your life, my body has no issues. It works like a well oiled machine...
Every person in this world is like a living bacteria in my body, each doing their "job".

@Philosophim: "But since only my mind can be known, aren't you really just me?"
I am, your mind is just a tiny piece of mine. Could be a good piece, or a piece of shit ;-) depending on my imagination...

@praxis: "Does a morning of studying a gray seascape make the afternoon more beautiful?"
Never tried that, and i prefer studying a tropical seascape, it changes the landscape around me. Unfortunatly, to dry is not so good for the grass... But if i would persist, my garden would become a beach.

@Bird-up (love that name): I wake up in the same place because my consciousness has a memory. Well more like people make use of time/watches... Memory only starts to work when you learn the lineair concept of time (i guess). But when i dream, i am without memory, so i could be anywhere. Well, i am in my sleeping body, my sleeping body is the scene... Like, i am a kind of an artist. When i make collages, i use elements, textures of pictures to recreate something. In my dream i then am in a place i recognise, but everything is different, different bed, different tv, different floor tiles, but the rooms (as spaces) are still the same, the doors are in the same places, the windows, the furnitures are the same, like a table would still have 6 chairs, but they would be different style... You should try this yourself. It would have the same effect in your dreams. Make a few evenings collages, for some hours... really get into making collages, creating with it. Your dream will appear as a collage.
But the world is really not that consistant, its a projection of myself. So learning about that (yes there is still alot to learn of myself) it gives me freedom. I was sick two days, doctor said i have gallstone. So i breath trough the pain focus on the same old usual instead of the pain. I made an appointment to do an echo. No, no gallstone, and the pain was almost gone too. Is it coincidence, was there really gallstone few days ago... no one will know. I just rewrote my brain...

Hope this sounds interesting to hear from the point of view of the solipsist.

Hmm good answer. I suppose there are other ways to explain consistent events. Maybe I am a solipsist but don't realize it yet.

So if you are the only thing that exists, that means I am either a part of you or have been invented by you.

What's my name?

How long does it take for a "solipsist" to answer a post?
Wheatley August 12, 2020 at 02:26 #442197
Do you feel lonely?
Sir2u August 12, 2020 at 02:30 #442199
An easy one then.

How many "solipsists" does it take to change a light bulb?

If solipsism is true there can only be one solipsist.

One?

I prefer tropical seascapes as well but I'm stuck with semi-arid for the time being. Tropical seascapes can be gray, by the way, on a cloudy day, like in May.

Good luck with your beach.

OK, which light bulb will he change?

What happened to Koen, has he stopped believing in himself?
