Chinese "Wet markets"

It seems to me that during this latest "end of the world" scenario, the widely acknowledged source of new vilral diseases ( Aisan Flu, SARS, H7N9 etc.) can be traced to China.
Why is it then that China, is reluctant to reign in these God-awful wet markets that seem to be the breeding grounds for these nasty human/animal crossover related illnesses?
They say that the Chinese like to eat animals that have been freshly killed, including dogs, cats, bats and birds and snakes. OK, take a look at these markets on YouTube. Surely you will see that these places have no place in a modern, educated society dependant on each other for using modern methods including basic hygiene for the welfare of others.
Come on China, get with the program
