IQ and education

Thought it might be interesting to discuss measured intelligence quotients and education (degrees received, GPA, ect.). Who has taken a standardized IQ test? Which test, what was your score, and what degree(s) did you earn?

Reply to Christopher Show us a good test on the web that we can all take and then compare the results.

I was thinking empirically valid tests, such as WAIS or Stanford-Binet, ect. But that could be fun as well.

Not sure how many people here have had the opportunity to do those tests. There are quite a few that might have done them in their mother tongue, not English. Would, do you think, this make any significant difference?

Reply to Sir2u It should be universal.

Never had an IQ test, but I don't put much stock in them at any rate.

I used to run into a lot of people online who claimed to have taken IQ tests, but that always seemed weird to me, because almost no one I know offline has taken an IQ test. So I always wondered why all these folks were taking IQ tests . . . well, or I always suspected that most of them were full of shit.

It should be universal.

Should being the key word there, as intelligence supposedly should be able to be measured without the use of any language.

Did you find a test yet?

Reply to Christopher We needn't do our own micro-study because this has all been previously done for us. E.g. http://www.unz.com/anepigone/correlation-between-iq-and-educationa/

I don't care to get immersed in the arguments for or against IQ testing, but I offer the simple observation that there is a great deal more to a person than IQ. Knowing that I have an IQ of (say) 135, but knowing nothing else about me, tells you very little, IMO. Context is all. ... And remembering how narrow and focussed an IQ test is.

That was my two-pennyworth. I hope you enjoyed it.
