I read this the other day; it's a fantastic overview of Peirce's thought. Didn't realize firstness, secondness, and thirdness were modelled after index, icon, and symbol. That was very helpful.

I liked the article too. I had never heard of Peirce until I watched the Bryan Magee interview on American pragmatists. @jamalrob linked to the Magee interview series last week.

According to Magee, it’s pronounced “Purse.”
