Importance of recognition

We see ourselves in a state to welcome recognition. Definitely, recognition and fame enjoy their own differences. Other than the love for art, what can recognition do to an artist?

I believe Wilde put it best ... I’ll have to paraphrase because cannot remember word for word:

The artist is at his peak when there is mass disagreement about his work and critics fight about it.

For the full “masterpiece” of writing read Oscar Wilde’s preface to “The Picture of Dorian Grey” - it’s just over one page of writing and an extremely well thought out piece especially in light of the novel itself.
