Our human nature and the catholic catechism

So I am very interested in the Catholic church although I am not a Catholic. It would be of interest to not just look at the Catechism as a truth but to philosophize about it.
How do people in our society actually think about this passage from the catechism? Do people have different reason for dissagreeing with this? And does this, according to you, tell the truth about our human nature?
