Hey guys! I've been researching Stoicism for a little while now and I'm trying to come up with arguments against its principles. Does anyone have any arguments against Stoicism?
I haven't really seen any. But going based on experience, I would say that Stoicism is great as a philosophy of resilience. But thriving in an environment requires that you know how to leverage the forces around you and direct them towards some purpose. Stoicism doesn't teach you that.
Reply to Clare I think Nietzsche would be a natural philosopher to turn to for such arguments. His philosophy seems to me to be about embracing your passions rather than controlling them. I say that as somebody that is much influenced by Stoicism but also is fascinated by Nietzsche.
