Not that I mind but I was surprised to see that a post of mine just was. Anyone know what's up?

All we know is that if you use the word that shall not be written (M_ _ _n, means a person who is unintelligent. Very) it happens. We don't know what else sets it off.

T H E also sets it off.

Posts that are flagged by other posters get queued for moderation. Sometimes, it's an accident, sometimes not; sometimes it's justified, sometimes not. We take a look then and decide what to do with them. Your post was fine so I released it from the queue.

That's the only auto flag.

Cool. But how could it get flagged without ever being posted?

It was immediate.

Don't know. The only trigger word is "Moron". Maybe you accidentally flagged it yourself?

I think there was a spate of M0r0n name calling a while back that made it a useful short cut for moderation.

I thought that likely, as a matter of fact, this being a phone, and me hating writing on it, but the flag button doesn't show up at all until it's posted... Not gonna worry about it.

Just for clarity - If I flag a post, it remains in the discussion until a moderator looks at it and decides it should come out. Is that correct?

Yes. For example, I just flagged your post. Still here.

Ah, I see. So idiot, m0r0n, loser, good-for-nothing-piece-of-shit, etc., are all kosher because there hasn't been a spate involving those terms yet? It seems pretty obligatory.
BC May 01, 2018 at 03:55 #175060
So, why is "mor on" a trigger word? Why not fuck, bag of shit, etc.?

That's why I've been in favor of having every post fully vetted through unanimous favorable voting by all mods prior to public posting, including this one, which I'd vote NAY to, so you'd never see it.

That would probably sufficiently shield us from the unspeakable horror of the viewpoints of the M0r0ns, true. I vote yes.

Really? Moron? What is this, kindergarden?
BC May 01, 2018 at 05:07 #175081
So, what have you got against morons?

I have a better idea: ban all forms of communication on the forum. It's the only way to purge the forum of insults. It would make it one of those non-forum forums: a place to go to ask questions and exchange views on various topics without being able to ask questions or exchange views on various topics. A utopia.

Since Bitter and I have recently been released from m0r0nic limbo, I concur. It sounds like a space so safe, not even safeness could replace the space in which the safe space could ever be replaced.
Michael May 01, 2018 at 06:40 #175090
Reply to Srap Tasmaner You quoted Sapientia who used the word "oxymoronic". Unfortunately that is caught by the "moron" filter.

Profoundly, insanely unfortunate.
