Are physics people rather persnickety?

I try to learn new things about physics using a physics forum, but they often times criticize my questions as being dumb or too general. I don't mind being asked for clarification, but it seems kind of easy to shake the bee hive in that forum. Lol. Are they difficult people to try to communicate with? Are they actively trying to dissuade people from joining their industry? Lol.
