Stars
My thoughts are best portayed in free form-ish poems.
Whose words do we quote at the start of the day?
At the end of every night?
Softly reminding ourselves of who we are,
Comforting us with dreams of who we might be?
Come first bell we will remind ourselves of this-,
For whom we stand.
Yet with fear of failure,
We let our heart waver with memories.
For no one man can bear the weight-,
Slowly collapsing to our knees,
Weeping with the memories of those we loved.
To close our eyes for one last glimpse-,
Moments flying past like shooting stars,
Your head tilting back to feel the skies pressing down.
Wondering where they will land,
And how to catch them.
Are these not my memories that spread across the stars?
These flickers of hope within the distant sky,
Staring at me,
Waiting for me to reach them?
Not a day passes without feeling the significance-,
The truth beyond our mind,
Feeling this cage open for me,
Begging me to step out and adjust my eyes.
As with this pleading,
I paid the price of my own wisdom-,
My lesser omniscience,
To look upon the light above and know
From whence we came.
And to let these stars sparkle all alone,
Wasting this little chance,
I must witness it on my own.
